Malayan Exchange examines the construction of national narratives and the complexities of understanding and presenting history. Through this set of alternative currency, it highlights the under-examined and overlooked parts of history and encourages dialogue on historical perspectives and circulation of information.
The artwork features re-imagined Singapore currency featuring images of forgotten activists and politicians, important buildings, maps, flags, natural history drawings, poems, significant dates and texts.The complete collection consists of six denominations ($2, $5, $10, $50, $100 and $1000) digitally printed in various configurations of repetition.
