An Exile Revisits The City presents the return of a fictitious political exile to his homeland after a long absence from it. The series explores the construction of national history and identity through a photographic installation of the exile’s journey around the city of Singapore. This exhibition consists of a total of 15 photographs. The photographs employ German Romantic painter Casper David Friedrich’s Ruckenfigur approach to art. It features the exile in contemplation of the landscape and architecture of modern Singapore.
